Reason for using: Followup from 6/15 posting.Side Effects: Headaches have gone away. Muscle cramps have gone away and sinew twitching is less frequent. I only take 5 mg of Valium four times a day, not the 20 mg substitution as suggested for each 1 mg decrease of Klonopin. Extreme feeling swings but I don't understand if that's from Klonopin decrease or from Valium. Some despondency and at times sentiments of hopelessness, conceiving I’ll not ever get better. Insomnia following each titration downward. Worst of all, I had a seizure when I decreased Klonopin too rapidly, far more then the suggested 10% every 2-3 weeks and without a concurrent Valium substitution. Stupid!!!!!!!I discovered a Dr. through the VA who has utilised this procedure of tapering off the more powerful benzos utilising Valium (Diazipam) substitution. Valium has the longest half-life of any benzo without most of the nasty side effects. Even so, this has not been easy. I’m down to 2 mg of Klonopin a day. Valium decisively assists with the poorest of the disquiet, but there’s no way of bypassing some withdrawal. Some of this may be because I have not pursued the accurate equivalency substitution advised. I have exchanged less Valium for Klonopin than recommended. I am too aghast of evolving obsessed to another benzo, even considered Dr. and support assemblies state this is unlikely. Exercise, support assemblies, associates, holding a periodical, all help.
